Tomorrow we get to make the annual holiday journey back to the midwest. We’ve made the trip 7 or 8 times since we moved to Tucson. 1700 miles is a long time inside a car for sure which equates to 25 hours of petroleum burning good times. We manage to do it pretty well, driving straight through other than stops for gas, food, coffee, stretching, and everything associated with gas, food and coffee. We always take the same roads and stop at the same roadside dives. Texas is a good time at 2 in the morning.
This year Emily will be joining us, adding another driver, conversator, and very tight fit. It’s going to be cozy for a while. The mountain bike is coming along as usual, hopefully the conditions at home will be alright as it is one of the things I really look forward to, a revisit to the singletrack I learned to ride on. SoILL.
Safe and happy travels, and happy holidays to all.
