The summer has been drifting by silently, almost barge-like, with a creeping velocity that I seem to have a hard time keeping up with. Nonetheless, things are happening – some good, some not-so-much, but I’ve taken to rolling with it.

Rewind back about a month and a half to a most relaxing weekend with Katie, free from work, dogs, phones and email. This was our early summer weekend away, signaling the true start of summer; school is over, the magazine is published and things begin to mellow. We headed South to the beaches of San Carlos and I must say I was thoroughly impressed. The extra time in the car versus going to Rocky Point was noticeable but I’ll take the extra hour in the car in exchange for quieter beaches and a more relaxed atmosphere. We were able to find a beach in a cove, early in the morning where we wouldn’t see another person until the early afternoon.

We rented fins, masks and snorkels, and enjoyed swimming around in the reefs all day. The hotel we stayed at was great; inexpensive, quiet and right on the beach. Food was good and we came back thoroughly unwound, job done!

most of the photos got tossed as the WB on the camera was set to tungsten
